Sinopse
One Antarctic explorer records, over 20 years, the challenges faced by researchers in a unique setting of natural beauty, nearly untouched by man, under extreme living conditions. Antarctica, Chronicles from the End of the World, combines science and adventure in a series of 8 episodes of 24 minutes each. The adventures and challenges faced by an Antarctic explorer accompanying groups of scientists in their research on the frozen continent, in an intimate record, in which the character himself tapes his daily life, his walks on glaciers, and the unique routine of the Antarctic bases. Over the last 20 years, mountain climber Nelson Barreta embarked almost every summer to Antarctica in order to assist scientists of the Brazilian Antarctic Program conducting their scientific research in one of the most inhospitable and cold regions in the world, recording all stages of the expedition – from the navigation required to cross the Drake Passage from Punta Arenas, in Chile, through all the logistics to survive in a camp exposed to below-zero temperatures – revealing not only the scientific aspects of the work carried out by those scientists, but also a concern for the sustainability of the entire planet, seen through the impacts of climate change in the region.
